Born in Łuków, Poland in 1991, Mateusz Rzewuski has studied in four prestigious conservatoires in Europe, namely the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Musikhochschule Lübeck, the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel. Most recently in 2018, the organist was conferred the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Performance at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He has taken part in numerous master classes given by renowned organists including Guy Bovet, Hans Fagius, Olivier Latry, Ludger Lohmann and Daniel Roth.

Rzewuski’s outstanding artistic achievements earned him numerous accolades at home and abroad. In Poland, he received scholarships from the Ministry of Science, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He was also a two-time recipient of the Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw scholarship. He was a finalist in the International Rev. Stanisław Ormiński Organ Competition held in Rumia in 2011 and the All-Poland Organ Improvisation Competition in Legnica two years later. He was awarded the first prize and a special prize at ‘Organists of New Europe’, an international organ competition held in Bardo in 2013, the second prize and a special prize at the 7th International M. K. Čiurlionis Organ Competition in Vilnius in 2015, and the first prize and a special prize at the 1st International Organ Competition in Białystok in 2017.

Rzewuski initiated and served as the artistic director of the International Organ and Chamber Music Festival in Łuków in 2013, as well as the International Organ and Chamber Music Festival in Biała Podlaska and the Organ and Chamber Music Concerts in Warsaw in 2019.

The organist has given concerts at international festivals in Poland, Germany, France, the United States, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Britain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Russia and Slovakia. He also released in 2018 a CD recorded on the historical Aristide Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Holy Cross Cathedral in Orleans, France.

Rzewuski has embarked on his concert tour to 13 countries earlier this year. He will be performing in Hong Kong for the first time.

Free tickets will be given out, limited to four per person, on a first-come first-served basis at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre enquiries counter between 9 am and 9 pm starting from 27 September (Fri). Children aged 6 and above are welcome. The programme lasts approximately 40 minutes without intermission.
